Leroy McClure, Jr. is a public speaker across the country and a published author who is available to further educate on the subjects of ADHD, Dyslexia, and HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) in athletes.
Mr. McClure serves as a pioneer in the field for educating African-American children with learning differences. McClure’s efforts to serve those children who suffer from reading challenges and ADHD led him to create a full-time school. As the only African-American male Certified Academic Language Therapist in the country, McClure’s passion for helping individuals with learning differences became a reality when he wrote a proposal that was submitted to Texas Education Agency (TEA) to open a charter school called FOCUS Learning Academy.
As the CEO of FOCUS Learning Academy, McClure has managed a budget from $1/2 million to $10 million.The school grew from 100 students to over 1200 and from 12 employees to over 120. The school became a Recognized Campus and the only Charter School in the state of Texas to win a State Basketball Title.
As the founder and CEO of a charter school, Mr. McClure is a positive and beneficial mentor for educators. He not only speaks at Education Conferences but also conducts training seminars for those within the education system. His passion is to not only identify those with Learning Disabilities but to increase awareness and implement services to address it. He also conducts seminars for ministries where the focus is on training church leadership.
